German Translation of Baten Kaitos Origins

While these were the first Monolith Soft games I ever played and the games that made me a huge fan of the developer, I only got around to record them many years after I started uploading videos on Monolith Soft games. However, that fact allowed me to play and record the games in 4K resolution and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I like both of these games very much, to the point that I actually decided to make my own German translation of Baten Kaitos Origins (the first game was already localised by Nintendo).

Note: Until further notice, I will be boycotting Bandai Namco’s “Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster” because of Bandai Namco’s poor treatment of these games and the low quality of their “remasters” in general (e.g. Tales of Symphonia). Because Monolith Soft clearly wasn’t involved in the “HD Remaster”, it also would not fit the theme of my channel very well.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

Part 1 of these videos covers all of Disc 1 and the beginning of Disc 2 until the end of the Lava Caves at Azha. Part 2 covers the rest of the game.

Star Map videos

Cebalrai… Sadal Suud… Kaffaljidhma… Baten Kaitos…
Did anyone ever wonder where these quite unusual names come from? They are names of stars.
The “Star Map” explanation video tries to explain the in-game star map which is the focus of the game’s longest sidequest.

  • An unused flashback scene (probably intended to be used before the Vega Building Site)
  • Battles against the Machina Vanguard members after breaking their machina arma
  • Coliseum sidequest scenes
  • A 25-card combo

German Translation of Baten Kaitos Origins

In this series of videos, I play my own and Sephie‘s German translation of Baten Kaitos Origins without commentary.
The resolution is low because the game was played on a Nintendo Wii console limited to 480p output.
